Vtg Japanese Decorative Samurai Armor for Boys' Festival w/Box

This is a vintage Japanese display samurai helmet (Kabuto) for a Japanese boys' festival or for celebrating the birth of a boy. This sturdy helmet display piece is made of metal with the striking front piece in the shape of deer antlers and the iconic crescent moon. It is mostly a gold color and has orange tassels. It sits on a red and gold pillow with green tassels for display. It comes with the original paper box. This particular helmet was one designed after the one worn by famous Sengoku Period samurai by the name of Yamanaka Yukimori (also known popularly as Shikanosuke).

Helmets and armors are commonly displayed for the Japanese boys' festival. They protect boys from illness and accidents, help them overcome difficulties, and encourage them to grow strong.
