Antique Japanese Buddhist Altar Butsudan Decorative Parts
This is an antique Japanese part of a Buddhist altar, or butsudan. It is called shumidan or Sumeru Altar. It is the last tier before reaching the Buddha in this representation. The design is carved and constructed from wood and features simple scalloped border pieces. It is lacquered with mostly red with a black top piece and gold accents.

- Okay condition considering age. Small chips on edges. Lacquer cracking and peeling on edges and on top surface. Two holes on top from where wood plugs used to be. Wear and tear due to age. Please see the photos.
