 Japanese Wooden Kokeshi Doll

This vintage Japanese wooden kokeshi doll has a unique design. The body is rounded with gold-painted plum blossoms, and the head is egg-shaped. Based on the swirl of painted hair at the top, this appears to have the look of a baby. The facial expression is youthful and content.  It has been brushed with a clear lacquer coating to give it shine. 
Kokeshi dolls are traditional toys, figurines, and charms crafted from wood that are an excellent decorative representation of Japanese craftsmanship and traditional culture.
