About Chidori Vintage

Japanese Antiques, Sourced in Japan Since 2008

Chidori Vintage is a family-run Japanese antiques and vintage business based in Nagoya, Japan. Since 2008, we have sourced distinctive pieces from across Japan and shipped them to collectors, designers, businesses, and customers worldwide.

Our collection is constantly changing and includes Japanese pottery and ceramics, tea ceremony items, lacquerware, Buddhist and Shinto objects, katagami stencils, folk crafts, vintage household items, and many other pieces that reflect Japan's long tradition of craftsmanship and design.

Our central Japan base gives us access to antique markets, dealers, auctions, and other buying opportunities, primarily throughout Aichi and Gifu, with occasional sourcing trips to Nagano and other parts of Japan. Many of the objects we find are one-of-a-kind pieces that would be difficult to source outside Japan.

We also specialize in finding items for customers. If you are searching for something specific or need a larger quantity for a restaurant, hotel, interior design project, film or television production, or other commercial project, please contact us. We regularly source items to order and can help arrange economical shipping for larger purchases.

Our Story

Chidori Vintage was founded in 2008 by husband-and-wife team Dan and Maiko Dittmar.

We began selling Japanese antiques on eBay and gradually grew Chidori Vintage from a small online shop into a business serving customers worldwide. Today, we have sold more than 42,000 items through our eBay store, with over 10,000 customer feedback ratings, and we now sell through both eBay and ChidoriVintage.com.

Maiko was born and raised in Japan, while Dan has lived in Japan for more than two decades. Over the years, we have built relationships with dealers and sellers and learned where to find unusual pieces that rarely appear outside the Japanese market.

We especially enjoy finding objects with character—pieces that may have been part of everyday life in Japan decades ago, traditional crafts made by skilled artisans, and unusual items whose purpose or history isn't immediately obvious.

We source every item here in Japan, and we take pride in carefully describing, packing, and sending these pieces to their next owners around the world.

If you are looking for something you don't see in our store, please get in touch. We are always happy to see what we can find.
