Japanese Ukiyoe Woodblock Print Art

This Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock print is an artwork by Kamei Tobei titled 'Arashiyama Togetsukyo Bridge', a famous landmark in Kyoto. It features women in kimono walking towards the entrance of the bridge, with massive mountains in the back, and trees in the foreground. Gray is mainly used for this print, with touches of purple and yellow. The print is signed with a stamp. It is placed under a cardboard frame with a paper cover and a sticker with information in English on the back. It comes with a matching paper envelope.

Ukiyoe is a genre of Japanese art that flourished from the 17th through 19th centuries. Its artists produced woodblock prints and paintings of such subjects as female beauties, kabuki actors and sumo wrestlers, scenes from history and folk tales, travel scenes and landscapes, flora and fauna, and erotica.
