Japanese Tea Caddy Chaire for Tea Ceremony
This vintage Japanese high-quality matcha tea container, called chaire, is an important addition to any traditional tea ceremony set. Made of porcelain, this satsuma-ware tea container has a crackled beige glaze with an elegant floral design consisting of chrysanthemums (kiku) and bellflowers (kikyo).
This particular type of match container usually contains an ivory or ceramic lid, however, reed or other types of stoppers are common.
