Japanese Vintage Porcelain Sake Cup

This is a vintage Japanese porcelain sake cup. This particular type of cup is called a sakazuki, a wide-mouthed sake cup often used for ceremonial purposes. Sakazuki typically only holds a couple of sips of sake. This white cup is painted with the design of a turtle (minogame). Minogame are a legendary turtle often depicted in traditional Japanese artwork and stories with a long tail and symbolizes longevity. The turtle is colored gold, blue, and yellow and the inside rim has a worn gold band.

  • Good condition considering age. Small chips in rim. Crack in side. Gold paint worn on lip. General imperfections in glaze, shape, and design from production. Wear and tear due to age. Please see the photos carefully.
