Vintage Japanese Wooden Lacquer Serving Tray, Obon

This is a vintage Japanese wooden lacquered serving tray or obon. This Miyazaki shikki tray is lacquered with a glossy black inside and on the bottom, and red on the side and the rim. This tray features a hibiscus design and a signature by the tsuikin technique.  It is round with slightly raised sides so drinks cannot easily slide off. 
Obon (serving trays) are typically used for serving drinks and snacks to guests in one's home, business, etc. They provide both function and beautiful decor.
