This is a vintage set of hina daruma dolls. The set contains a hime daruma, or princess wearing a beautiful red layered kimono with a chrysanthemum pattern. The other doll is called nishiki daruma, or prince, wearing a black and gold layered kimono with red and green chrysanthemums. This pair of dolls is typically given as a lucky charm for marriage and the birth of children as the hime doll was made to resemble the pregnancy of a Japanese empress. It is weighted at the bottom so that the doll stays upright.
