Vtg Japanese Buddhist Altar Butsudan Part
This item is a decorative border part from a Japanese vintage wooden Buddhist altar cabinet. This piece is lacquered with gold paint and has brass metal border embellishments. The main feature is a collection of intricately carved wooden chrysanthemum flowers (kiku) along with peacocks and Ho-oh phoenixes. There is incredible 3D depth to the design of this piece, and it is visually interesting to look at. Use it as a replacement part or as decoration.
In Japan, the Buddhist altar is a place to enshrine the principal image that is the center of faith, and is a sacred place to hold memorial services for ancestors as a "small temple in the home".
