Japanese Buddhist Altar Fitting Orin Bell
This is a vintage Japanese orin bell for Buddhist altars. It contains a plain bronze bowl with a simple wooden striker. It rests on a platform-type pillow made of red and white fabric and gold chrysanthemum designs. Singing bowls are sounded during ritual prayer.
Orin bell sound can reach the Buddha in the Pure Land. It is also used to ward off people's evil spirits and convey prayers to the Buddha, ancestors, and the deceased through sound.
