Vtg Japanese War Fan Gunbai
This item is a wooden war fan. It is black with a white, red and gold illustration of a tiger under the moon and a dragon under the sun on one side and has gold-colored ideograms on a black background on the other side. This war fan has two decorative orange tassels. This item would make a fabulous display on a shelf or wall.
Japanese war fans, also called gunbai, once used on the battlefields by Japanese warlords, are nowadays used by referees in sumo wrestling.
