Vintage Japanese Ceramic Snake Statue Pair
This is a pair of vintage ceramic snake statues, the larger and the smaller. It is a very dark gray, almost black, tone with glossy black accents along the grooves. The larger snake coils up with its head up, tail down, and opens its mouth, while the smaller one coils up with its tail at the top. There is a signature on the lower part of the smaller statue.
The snake is one of the Chinese zodiac signs, and zodiac animal statues are traditionally displayed as lucky charms for the New Year.
