This is a Japanese army medal of the Rising Sun (旭日章, Kyokujitsu-shō) 8th Class White Paulownia Badge. This medal is the first medal established in Japan. (Enacted in Meiji 8) c1875
It is given to men who have made distinguished service to the nation or the public.
Equivalent to the Coronet Badge.
