Vintage Japanese Wood Carving Statue
Famously from Hokkaido and northern Japan, this small intricately hand-carved statue is a traditional Ainu folk handicraft. This particular statue represents a human figure.
These statues are popular souvenirs and gifts when traveling to Hokkaido and are commonly featured as a centerpiece in tokonoma alcoves in traditional tatami rooms.
