Vintage Japanese Wooden Shrine Plaque, Ema

The plaque is a token used to describe a pilgrimage to temples one must visit to pray to each of the gods and on the back side each god is listed with their accompanying temple. it has a beige braided cord tied to the top.

Ema is a small wooden plaque used at Shinto shrines, and sometimes Buddhist temples, that which worshipers can write their wishes, hopes, and dreams on. Once written, it is hung on a special wooden stand or tree where the kami (spirits or gods) are thought to receive them.
