Vintage Japanese Wooden Noh Mask Wall Hanging
This is a vintage Japanese wooden noh mask (noh-men) attached to a wooden board. This character is the face of a jealous female demon (hannya). Hannya is characterized by two pointed horns, an open mouth with sharp teeth, and round (often painted gold) eyes. It symbolizes jealousy and resentment and is applied to female characters when angry. This mask has two large reddish-orange tassels as well as a cord for hanging as well as a small hyotan gourd talisman which is said to keep out negativity. It can be used for all kinds of home and office decor.
