Vintage Japanese Fabric Doll Figurine w/ Box
This is a vintage Chirimen-Zaiku silk fabric doll in the shape of a rabbit (usagi). It is made of white, green, red, and multi-colored cherry blossom-pattered silk fabric with gold cord accents throughout. It has red eyes.
Chirimen-Zaiku is a traditional handicraft with a history dating back to the Edo period. Dolls, decorations, and accessories are formed from cloth with a textured surface woven with twisted fibers known as yori. Chirimen products are often made from kimono fabric waste.
