Vintage Japanese Ceramic Small Bowl

This vintage Japanese ceramic small bowl, or katakuchi, is a gray crackle glaze with a crane on one side and mount Fuji on the other. It is a tiny bowl with a spout on the lip for pouring out liquid from steamed vegetables to being used in tea ceremonies and for pouring sake. More modernly, these types of features are more for decorative purposes. In this case, the spout can also be used as a place to rest one's thumb when holding the bowl.
