Vintage Japanese Porcelain Small Plate, Mamezara
This is a vintage Japanese porcelain plate. This round small plate, also called mamezara, is sometsuke (white porcelain with indigo blue), has subtle plant designs in the center. Mamezara are tiny plates in a Japanese tableware set that typically hold dipping sauces such as soy sauce, garnishes, and other condiments. It is also the perfect size for holding small jewelry.
We got this item at an antique auction in Tajimi in Gifu, Japan.
