Vintage Japanese Porcelain Small Plate, Mamezara

This is a vintage Japanese porcelain plate. This round small plate, also called mamezara, is sometsuke (white porcelain with indigo blue), has the image of a shishi lion in the center. Mamezara are tiny plates in a Japanese tableware set that typically hold dipping sauces such as soy sauce, garnishes, and other condiments. It is also the perfect size for holding small jewelry.

  • Good condition considering age. Small chips on edge. Rough blemishes in glaze from production (raised unglazed sections). Wear and tear due to age. Please see the photos carefully.
