Japanese Lacquered Lidded Fumibako Box
This is a Japanese lacquered wooden letter box (Fumibako). It is traditionally used to store letters and important documents. This particular box has a divider that enables storing efficiently stationary items such as pens. The box features a simple lined design on the lid along with some inscriptions in Japanese. The inscriptions inside the box say "celebration of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Tokai Bank".
