Vintage Japanese Lacquered Wooden Chabitsu Lidded Box
This is a Japanese vintage lacquered wooden box with a lid. It is a Chabitsu, a lidded container designed to store Sencha green tea utensils for the Japanese tea ceremony. This chabitsu lidded box has a characteristic reddish brown color. It is round and has curved cut-outs on the edge of both the box and the lid. The inside of the lid is decorated with a gold color maki-e picture of two ginkgo tree leaves and an inscription in red. This elegant lid can be used as a tray. A paper box is included.
