Japanese Decorative Imitation Sword
This is a vintage Japanese decorative imitation sword. The blade is made of metal crafted to look like a sharpened edge (not sharp) with a metal guard (tsuba) and a handle made of black fabric and wood. The guard is made or iron and depicts a dragon with the head on the handle side and the tail on the blade side. Woven into the handle are iron dragon charms called menuki. The sheath is wood coated with black lacquer. There are other metal embellishments with the dragon motif.
Often used in stage plays, traditional theatre, historical reenactments, during festivals, and for general cosplay, imitation swords are also a popular decorative object.
