This is an antique Japanese photo glass negative plate showing people gathered inside in a big room or hall. The people are sitting on each side of several low tables, traditionally used in Japan, and are joining hands in prayer. Bowls of rice and small individual plates containing food are placed on the tables, as well as a bigger bamboo dish containing rice. This scene is before a group meal. Japanese characters are decorating the room and they are other details to discover in this photo. This negative plate is a testimony of the community life in Japan in the 1900s.
