Vintage Japanese Lucky Hammer Piggy Bank

This is a vintage Japanese ceramic lucky hammer or Uchide no kozuchi. This hammer is a money bank with a hole to insert coins on the front and a covered hole on the bottom to extract money. It is dark brown and has a double tassel. On the top of the hammer sits a mouse or a rat, one of the twelve animals of the Japanese zodiac. The mouse is made of wood, leather, and other materials.
