Vintage Iron Branding Stamp
This is a vintage cast iron branding stamp called yaki-in. This piece is meant to be placed over fire or coals and is used to mark wood, leather, fabrics, and most famously Japanese sweets such as manju. It has a round shape with a decorative border, hot spring symbol, and kanji (kousen senbei 鉱泉煎餅). It means "mineral spring rice cracker", a special type of rice cracker/senbei made with carbonated water from hot springs. They are popular souvenir snacks in the Nagano, Gunma, and Tochigi areas.
