Japanese Calligraphy Brush
This is a vintage Japanese calligraphy brush, or fude in Japanese. According to the inscriptions on the bamboo handle, this brush is size 2 (ni-go). The brand is Gyokusendo.
Brushes are traditionally used for Japanese calligraphy (Shodo) and for practicing Japanese character handwriting (Shuji). They can also be used for traditional Nihonga paintings.
