Vintage Japanese Buddhist Altar Fitting Lacquer Offering Table
This is a vintage Japanese Buddhist altar offering table (Maejoku). It is coated in a glossy black lacquer with gold-painted accents. There are carved wooden bird scenes with bamboo leaves and peony flowers in the side-center panels.
In the case of memorial services, a piece of cloth called Uchishiki is inserted between the base and top piece. There are two types of offering tables Maejoku and Uwajoku. Maejoku is placed in front of the Shumidan. It is used for 3 Gusoku (candle stand, flower vase, and incense burner). Uwajoku is placed in front of Amidanyorai. It is used for a flower vase, a rice cup, and a kasha incense burner.

- Good condition considering age. Adhesive residue marks on top panel. Some scratches and lacquer wear and chipping in some places. Some brass plates are bent on the edges. Wear and tear due to age. Please see the photos.
