Japanese Buddhist Altar Fitting Offering Stand
This is a pair of Japanese offering shelf stands for a Buddhist altar. Also called bukki, this important altar accessory is made of wood and lacquered black and gold. It has three tiers with small circular platforms and is held together by three supports. It has a simple hexagonal shape with cutouts on the sides. It is often used in pairs to hold small cups of rice, sake, and more as an offering to Buddha and one's ancestors.
