Japanese Buddhist Altar Fitting Hanging Lantern Butsugu Parts
This is a spare part from a vintage Japanese Buddhist brass metal hanging lantern, or rinto, made to be hung in Buddhist altars (butsugu). In particular, this bronze metal part is used as a cup or reservoir in the bottom part of the rinto set. This style typically sits fitted on a small stack of metal plates (secured by the ring at the bottom).
