Japanese Buddhist Offering Stand Kuge Set
This is a pair of vintage offering stands called Kuge for the Buddhist altar in Japan. Cut in a floral shape with a removable top piece resembling a flower, this pair is made of resin plastic and colored black and brushed gold lacquer. It is a utensil for offering rice cakes, fruits, Rakugan sweets, etc, and is mainly used by the Jodo Shinshu Honganji sect of Buddhism. Each of the stands easily comes apart.
