 Vtg Japanese Buddhist Altar Butsudan Parts

This item is a set of two decorative cylinders originally part of a Japanese vintage wooden Buddhist altar cabinet. These two cylinder-like parts are made of wood, painted in black and gold, and decorated with gold metal pieces representing leaves, flowers and other natural elements. 

In Japan, the Buddhist altar is a place to enshrine the principal image that is the center of faith, and is a sacred place to hold memorial services for ancestors as a "small temple in the home".

  • Good condition considering its age. Dents and chips. Discoloration and marks on metal. Rust. Gold gilt is thin or gone in some spots. Light scratches and marks. Wear and tear due to use. Please see the photos.
