Vtg Japanese Buddhist Altar Fitting Namu Amida Butsu Icon
This is a Japanese vintage fabric hanging scroll representing Amida Buddha, or Gohonzon. It is an icon displayed in Japanese Buddhist home altars, Butsudan. It is a powerful religious image, aimed to be the center piece of an altar. This Gohonzon is red, blue and gold. It is signed on the back. Gohonzon are usually paired with two other icons (owakigake): one on the left and one the right.
