Vtg Japanese Traditional Tabi Boots w/ Box

This is an unworn pair of vintage tabi boots, also known as jikatabi or matsuritabi. Resembling the famous tabi socks worn with other traditional Japanese shoes, these unique, split-toe boots are made for working outdoors (commonly seen worn by rickshaw drivers) and are popular during festivals for performers. It has a brown textured rubber sole and the body is made up of a tough navy blue fabric with a beige lining. It has a line of metal tabs called kohazu that fasten to long lines of braided thread to keep the boot closed and form to the ankle. The original box is included.
