Vintage Japanese Koto Harp Pick
This is a vintage Japanese koto harp pick, called tsume. Meaning "nail" in Japanese, this unique pick goes on the thumb, index finger, or middle finger on the right hand of a koto player ( a full set is three pieces) and is used to pluck the strings. Traditionally they were made of ivory or bone, but modern tsume picks are ceramic or hard plastic.
