Antique Japanese Ear Speculum
This is an antique Japanese small brass metal speculum used for nasal or ear passages due to the small hole on the very end and narrow pointed tip. It does not have any sort of clamp like typical speculums.
Brass medical tools were popular in the 1800s and very early 1900s due to their ease of being sterilized with alcohol or boiling water (before autoclaves), but fell out of favor with the introduction of stainless steel.
