Japanese Buddhist Fabric Bag for Prayer Beads Juzu
This is a Japanese vintage handmade fabric prayer beads juzu bag, also called juzu-bukuro. It is used to carry rosary beads used in memorial services such as funerals. It is made of a deep navy blue silk fabric with a woven basket/fence pattern called Ajiro/Higaki in brown and miniature depictions of the legendary bird Ho-oh in gold. There are two pockets inside, covered in plain beige fabric. This case has no clasp or hook to keep it closed.
