Vintage Japanese Ceramic Water Cooling Bowl

This is a vintage Japanese ceramic water cooling bowl, yuzamashi or yusamashi. This piece is light gray with pale green accents. It has a subtle spout on one side of the rim for pouring. The wavy rim makes it easy and comfortable to hold. 

This type of cup/bowl is a part of a traditional Senchado tea set. It is used to adjust the temperature of freshly boiled water before brewing Gyokuro or high-grade Sencha in a teapot.
