Vtg Japanese Buddhist Altar Butsudan Part
This item is a decorative border part from a Japanese vintage wooden Buddhist altar cabinet. This piece is lacquered with gold and has brass metal border embellishments on a black lacquered frame. The main feature is a collection of intricately carved wooden flowers (peony). There is incredible 3D depth to the design of this piece and is visually interesting to look at. Use it as a replacement part or as decoration.
In Japan, the Buddhist altar is a place to enshrine the principal image that is the center of faith, and is a sacred place to hold memorial services for ancestors as a "small temple in the home".
