Japanese Brushed Lacquer Lidded Fumibako Letter Box
This is a Japanese brushed lacquer wooden letter box (fumibako). It is traditionally used to store letters, small books, important documents, paper, and other stationary items. It is also often used for Buddhist items, such as altar prayer books, prayer beads, charms, and for incense storage.
This angular, rectangular medium brown brushed lacquered box with a simple design has a lid that drops down over the sides of the bottom.
