Vtg Japanese Ceramic Flower Vase With Wooden Box
This is a vintage Japanese ceramic flower vase, also called kabin or hanaire in Japanese. This vase is in the Nezumi Shino ware style, a type of Mino ware. It is light gray, brown, and white. This vase is an octagonal cylinder with a wider bottom. The light gray color is made with two glazes: a dark brown underglaze and a white topcoat. A white tree with a blossoms design on the body is created by scraping off the dark brown underglaze before applying the white topcoat. The dark brown underglaze shows through, creating brown accents. There is a signature near the bottom. It is wrapped and cased in a wooden box. This vase can be used for Ikebana or other floral arrangements. It is a beautiful item that can be displayed as decor.
