Japanese Hanging Scroll Kakejiku
This vintage Japanese hanging scroll (kakejiku or makimono) is a calligraphy of the Buddhists phrase Namu Amida Butsu written vertically. It has a double border: first red and gold, then dark green. It is signed and has red seals.
Kakejiku is a Japanese picture or calligraphy mounted on a piece of paper. Kakejiku was a tool to spread Buddhism in Japan. It has been integrated with Japanese culture as interior decoration. Tokokake is used at the Tokonoma in tatami room. Chakake has Zen words used in the tea ceremony room. Buddha-kake is used in the Buddhist altar.

Good condition considering its age. One end cap is missing. Tiny stains on front. Big kanjis in light ink visible on back. Wear and tear due to age. Please see the photos.
