Antique Japanese Pottery Sake Bottle Kayoi-Tokkuri 

This is an antique Japanese ceramic sake bottle. It is called a Kayoi-Tokkuri and is used to pour sake. The commuting sake bottle became popular as a rental container for liquor stores in the Edo period when sake began to be consumed on a daily basis. This period bottle is gray with some black Japanese kanji characters on the outside. There is an attached braided cord that was used to carry the bottle.

  • Good condition considering age. Glaze and clay imperfections. Marks. Damage on the mouth. Age on cord. Wear and tear due to age. Please see the photos carefully.
