Antique Japanese Pottery Sake Bottle Kayoi-Tokkuri 

This is an antique Japanese ceramic sake bottle. It is called a Kayoi-Tokkuri and is used to pour sake. The commuting sake bottle became popular as a rental container for liquor stores in the Edo period when sake began to be consumed on a daily basis. This period bottle is brown with some beige Japanese kanji characters on the outside. There is also a brown twine rope tied to the neck as well as a hole at the base for a spigot for easy pouring.

  • Good condition considering age. Chip on spigot hole near bottom. Glaze and clay imperfections from production. Marks. Wear and tear due to age. Please see the photos carefully.
