Vintage Japanese Lacquered Serving Tray Obon 

This is a vintage lacquered serving tray, or obon. It is round and dark brown with a raised edge. The tray features a gold Makie of chrysanthemum and small flowers in Raden or shell inlay.  The outside of the tray is coated with sparkling lacquer. There is some writing on the back. It comes with the original paper box.
Obon (serving trays) are typically used for serving drinks and snacks to guests in one's home, business, etc. They provide both function and beautiful decor.
