Vtg Japanese Ceramic Green Tea Bowl
This is a vintage Japanese ceramic green tea bowl, or matcha chawan. It is white with a crackled glaze and indigo blue floral designs on the outside and a simple round set of lines on the inside. This piece is in the annan style. It has a smooth texture. It is sturdy and easy to handle. This shape of this bowl is called hira-gata natsu chawan, which is a tea bowl made for summer.
Green tea bowls are traditionally used for preparing and drinking green tea during tea ceremonies but can be used in many scenes of modern everyday life.
