Vintage Japanese Chochin Lantern
This is a vintage Japanese paper hanging lantern called chochin. This round lantern, likely a lantern for the Obon summer festival, is made with thin green washi paper, a thin paper frame, resin black, silver and gold top and bottom, and a string handle. The body of the lantern is decorated with a floral pattern of chrysanthemums and other flowers such as pampas, na no hana, and hibiscus. This lantern comes with a battery-operated light bulb (not tested) to be placed inside, and a matching box.
