Vintage Japanese Lacquered Wood Bento

This is a vintage Japanese lacquered bento lunch box called jubako. It is caramel brown, true to the shunkei-nuri style of lacquerware.  It is two-tiered with a lid that features a chopstick holder as a lid handle. The bottom box has a handle for easy carrying. A pair of chopsticks is included. While it can be used for small meals, it can also be used as a sweets container or kashiki for sencha and tea ceremonies. It comes with the original Washi paper box.
