Vintage Japanese Lacquered Wooden Kamakurabori Rice Container w/ Box
This is a lidded Japanese cooked rice storage bowl container, or gohanki/ohitsu. It is gorgeous reddish brown color and in the style of kamakurabori (carved scales/hammered-looking design). It is a deep round bowl typically found in restaurants, traditional ryokan inns, etc. The lid's raised handle is the shape of knotted kombu seaweed. This item includes a rice paddle in a darker kamakurabori red color. The original box is also included.
This was purchased at the famous Osu Antique Market in Nagoya
